How to choose the right ski size

Are you a beginner and not sure where to start? We're here to help!

First of all, you'll need a few measurements.

  • Your height (measure from ground to eye level)
  • Your weight, because depending on the ski's camber, if you're a lightweight, you won't need a ski as long as someone with a good weight who can crush the camber.

You'll find that more often than not, your size will fall between two ski sizes. To decide which one to choose, your weight and your skiing ability will be decisive:

  • If you're a beginner, you'll need a slightly shorter ski, which will be easier to maneuver.
  • If you have a good weight for your height, however, you'll need a longer ski.
  • The more advanced you are, the longer the ski you can afford.
How you intend to use them will also influence your choice.
Today's skis are highly technical, and even the most versatile are designed to perform in a particular use, to give the skier the maximum in experience costs.

Determine what you intend to do:

Downhill skiing

As the name suggests, this is a groomed surface, often hard-packed and very slippery, so you'll need a ski with good maneuverability and good grip on the piste.

Ski All Mountain

Versatile skis that will allow you to do as much on-piste as off-piste. These versatile skis often come with Autoturn technology.

Ski racing

For downhill and slalom, we're talking about a ski designed for speed, generally with a narrow runner and a camber optimized for stability and precision.

Freeride skiing

For powder lovers, mostly off-piste, this requires longer skis with a wider base for better lift in fresh snow and a more pronounced camber.

Freestyle skiing

If you're a park skier and want to try your hand at rails and half-pipes, you'll need a shorter ski with double tips to improve pop and make your jumps easier.

We hope this information will help you make the right choices to get the most out of your downhill ski equipment.
